Coomba and District Progress Association Inc. was formed in 1974. It is the longest continuously running Progress Association in the Great Lakes Shire.
The Coomba and District Progress Association Inc.provides a formal structure to support the development of Coomba Park village and the surrounding district and the wellbeing of its residents. It acts as a focal point and facilitator for community needs and aspirations and supports community members in achieving these objectives.
The area that the Association supports covers the village of Coomba Park, the areas designated Coomba Bay and Whoota and the area of Charlotte Bay situated alongside Coomba Rd from the junction with The Lakes Way northwards on the Western shore of Wallis Lake and Shallow Bay. All these areas are situated in the Local Government area of Great Lakes.
The determination and stamina of the original small group of residents brought electricity, phone and postal services which enabled the village to grow.
The continuing efforts of the Progress Association have brought a lakeside pool, proper roads, a community hall, street lighting and many other structural benefits, and have supported more that 20 other groups within the village and its surrounds.
The spirit of the original group remains embedded within the community, bringing the warmth and comradeship enjoyed in this picturesque lakeside paradise.
Progress Association meetings, which are open to the public, are held in the Community Hall at and are widely advertised in advance.
